Full Description:

Abraham Discovers God: On the Development of the Monotheistic Idea

How did religion develop? What’s the difference between monotheism and paganism and why is that relevant today? What does Maimonides really think about religious institutions and ritual? Was Abraham called or did he find God? What distinguishes Abrahamic Hebraism from Mosaic proto-Judaism? Can you be a religious Jew without a commitment to halakha(Jewish law)?

These questions will all be considered in our study of Maimonides’ introduction to religion.
