Full course description
One-time, online, 60 minute session
Is your campus interested in creating better disability practices, engagement and programs?
Modeled after the Engagement Internship, the Ruderman Inclusion Ambassador initiative will support a cohort of students (two from each participating Hillel) to learn skills and gain knowledge to engage a diversity of students and bring an inclusion-informed lens to their Hillels. Students will spend their first semester/quarter identifying the needs of their campus through outreach and relationship building with students, staff, and campus departments. After collecting information, Ambassadors will identify one area to focus with the goal of positively influencing the culture at Hillel to be even more inclusive of individuals with disabilities.
Examples of past focus areas:
· Integrating inclusion practices into Shabbat services and training on how to plan Shabbat
· Inclusion of students with learning disabilities
· Advocating for accessible transportation locations near Hillel
· Destigmatizing mental illness
· Collaborating on campus projects with student campus groups focused on disability inclusion
