Instructor Bio:

Rabbi Douglas Kahn is the Executive Director Emeritus of the San Francisco-based Jewish Community Relations Council.  He joined the JCRC in 1982 and became Executive Director in 1989, a position he held until his retirement in June, 2016.

Prior to joining the JCRC staff he served as Executive Director of George Washington Hillel from 1979 – 1982.

In the course of his JCRC career he worked very closely for several decades with the Executive Directors of Hillels in the Bay Area on very complex issues – sometimes over an extended period of months. Under Doug’s leadership, JCRC became the go-to 24/7organization for trusted support and guidance during moments of crisis – ranging from navigating a polarized environment among Jewish student groups on campus to mounting a strong advocacy effort to address growing BDS activities.

Doug serves as a member of the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Jewish Student Life and Campus Climate at UC Berkeley and served on the President’s Task Force on Intergroup Relations at San Francisco State University.  He served on the Global Council of United Religions Initiative, an international grassroots interfaith organization and currently chairs its Foundation Board. He also serves on the JCPA Civility Committee and numerous Middle East strategy committees.  A fourth generation San Franciscan, Doug received his rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York and his B.A. from U.C. Berkeley.

Nadya Drukker is the Executive Director of the Tanger Hillel at Brooklyn College. Nadya just can’t seem to leave Brooklyn College. Most people graduate and move on. Not Nadya. Now in her 21st year at Hillel (9th as Executive Director,) Nadya has been part of a unique Hillel experience. She enjoys nothing more than meeting with students, faculty, and alumni. She has a passion for Jewish life, Jewish community, Jewish identity, Jewish culture, Israel and social justice through a Jewish lens.

While having fun is certainly at the top of Nadya’s list, so is tackling important and pressing issues that affect not only Hillel and Brooklyn College but the entire Jewish community and Israel.  When she's not building a framework for a vibrant Jewish campus life Nadya enjoys travel and theater. She resides in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons.
