Full course description

Description: Hillel's play a crucial role in reflecting Jewish values - such as concern for human health, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and ethical sourcing. In this workshop, learn how to best leverage student interest in food culture and current market trends to do more values-driven purchasing and eating that is both economical and delicious. Participants in this workshop will gain the skills and resources they need to offer fantastic food at their programs, and engage students, staff, and Hillel stakeholders to create a meaningful and relevant food policy for their Hillel. 

Instructors: Melissa Hoffman is the Humane Education and program Specialist for the Jewish Initiative for Animals (JIFA), a project of Farm Forward. Sarah Kornhauser is the Director of Hazon Denver. Ken Botts is the Food and Nutrition Director for the Humane Society of the United States. Ilana Braverman is the Program Director at Shamayim v’Aretz Institute.
