Full course description

Using real life vignettes that participants send Dr. Friedman in advance, Dr. Friedman will review key principles and practices of pastoral counseling. These include active listening, the power of transference, boundaries and borders, and confidentiality. Sound pastoral care contributes to positive Jewish identity for your students/congregants. Another goal is to build fellowship among participants and allow for sharing of feelings generated in campus work. Participants will be assigned pre-reading in November and will have the option to continue cohort-based learning together with Dr. Friedman through four online sessions during December - February.
